The annual ranking of top companies in the US, ranked by revenue is out from Fortune. And this year, Boise has a third company on the list.
Joining mainstays Micron Technology and Albertsons Companies is Boise Cascade at #493. It’s actually a return to the list for the lumber products distributor – which last hit the list in in 2007 and 2008 before falling off.
“After being on the fringes of the list for two years, Boise Cascade rode a historic surge in lumber prices to make this year’s Fortune 500,” Fortune wrote. “The company reported nearly $175 million in net income for fiscal 2020, an increase of more than 100% compared to the previous year.”
Fortune said BC saw $5.4 billion in revenue, up 17.9% from the prior year.
The highest-ranked Idaho company on the list remains grocery Albertsons. It ranked #52 for the year
“Albertsons rose three spots in the Fortune 500 over the past year, partially buoyed by COVID-19-fueled buying, as more consumers cooked and ate at home rather than at restaurants during the pandemic,” Fortune wrote.
Fortune said Albertsons brought in $62.4 billion in revenue, up 3.2% from the prior year.
Chipmaker Micron Technology fell one spot to #135. Fortune said the company notched $21.3 billion in revenue, down 8.4% from a year ago.
Not on the list is privately held J.R. Simplot Co. Another magazine – Forbes – reports the food and agriculture-focused company sees revenue of about $6 billion, which would rank it around 450 on the Fortune list. Simplot is #71 on Forbes’ list of largest private companies.
